Senior Program Class Descriptions

Silver Sneaker Classic Move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase strength and range of motion. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a Silver Sneakers ball are offered for resistance. A chair is used for support.

Senior Chair Yoga This is the gentlest form of yoga; it is easier on your muscles, and is for people with high blood pressure, anxiety, chronic fatigue syndrome, arthritis, vertigo, multiple sclerosis, carpal tunnel syndrome, chronic pain, and those that find it difficult to get up and down from the floor.

Senior Chair Pilates This class helps seniors reclaim their mobility and joy in daily life. The participants sit on, stand behind, and stabilize using safe chairs to get in shape. In this class, you’ll increase flexibility, strengthen muscles, deepen core connection, boost overall well-being, and gain improved balance.

Senior Circuit Training is an advanced group exercise class designed for active adults who desire a safe and effective low-impact cardiovascular workout. Muscle conditioning blocks at all different levels are used to offer many different levels and varieties to choose from. In addition, a variety of strength training options are offered to provide a well-rounded workout.

Senior Cardio Class Low-impact cardio workout designed with the older adult in mind. Class consists of warm-up, stretch, cardio routine, muscle strengthening and cool down/relaxation. Energizing and easy-to-follow movements promote heart-healthy, total-body conditioning to increase cardiovascular and muscular endurance.

 

Zumba Gold Active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba® class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower-intensity. The design of the class introduces easy-to-follow Zumba® choreography that focuses on balance, range of motion and coordination. Come ready to sweat, and prepare to leave empowered and feeling strong.

Line Dancing This popular class will keep you moving with fun dance steps performed to a variety of music. Line dancing is both fun and great exercise!  Intermediate and Advanced Line Dancing takes it to another level for the advanced dancer.

 

Water Fitness Class Descriptions

Aqua Walking Instructors lead the class through a light-intensity cardio workout that consists of walking around in the water. Movements are forward, backward, and side-to-side.  Different types and styles of walking movements are preformed such as forward, backward, and side-to-side.

Aqua Balance & Flexibility Exercises approved by the Arthritis Foundation include walking, gentle stretching, flexing, extension and range-of-motion. Exercises are done in shallow water and focus on activities of daily living, moving a joint through your range of motion and holding it to feel a gentle stretch in the muscle.

Aqua Aerobics High energy, low impact workout class for seniors . There is a strong cardio segment for approximately 25-35 minutes combined with strength training, using resistant equipment and stretching to improve flexibility.

Aqua Power Hour The instructor leads participants through high-intensity cardio movements such as walking, jogging, kicking, cross-country ski movements and jumping jacks. Class is in an interval format.

Aqua Silver Splash Jump in for a fun, shallow-water class that improves agility, flexibility and endurance. This is a great low-impact option. No swimming ability is required, and a Silver Sneakers kickboard or other aquatic equipment is used to improve strength, balance and coordination.
